Pronova developed the Kora Strip, an at-home saliva test for your dog. The beta round exists so that you and your dog can help refine how we screen for the markers that matter.

What you receive

A prototype reader and your strips, hand assembled in our lab. It looks different from the production version, but the science is the same. Consider it a limited edition.

Before you start

How a Kora Strip works.

Step 01

Collect with the swab

Each Kora Strip comes with a saliva collection kit: a swab, a syringe, and a sample tube. Use the swab to collect a saliva sample from your dog's mouth.

Step 02

Transfer to the tube

Insert the swab wet-end first into the syringe, then squeeze hard and hold to press the saliva out into the sample tube. Fill to the black line, the more the better.

Step 03

Apply and run

Apply the sample to the Kora Strip, insert it into the BioReader, and let the science do its work.

You do not need any laboratory experience. The kit is built so a calm dog and a kitchen counter are all you need.

Swabbing tips

  • Swab whenever is convenient, just not right after your dog eats.
  • Let your dog sniff an exciting treat first to get them salivating. If they eat a small treat, it is fine.
  • Swab for about thirty seconds on each side, focusing on the back of the cheeks where saliva pools.
  • Still struggling? Toss a treat in a little ginger powder. The bitterness triggers salivation.
  • This may be a new experience for both of you, so be patient with both of you.
